Peter Edmondson is a practising dairy vet in a specialist seven man dairy vet practice in Somerset. He qualified in 1980 and spent five years in practice in Ireland. He then moved to Saudi Arabia and China where he worked with large dairy herds of up to 2,500 cows and it was here that he developed an interest in mastitis control and quality milk.
He spends a large part of his time troubleshooting milk quality and mastitis problems on farms throughout the world and has a highly practical approach to problem solving. Peter was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and is a Diplomate of the European College of Bovine Health Management. He advises dairy, pharmaceutical and agri-businesses.
Peter presents papers at meetings across the globe to vets, farmers and other mastitis experts. He also regularly contributes to farming and veterinary publications.
Ian Ohnstad is an internationally recognised specialist in milking technology. He is a director of The Dairy Group which is a firm of dairy consultants. He leads the team of milking technology specialists, which provide independent advice on milking parlour specification and operation, hygienic milk production, mastitis control and dairy building design.
He has an active research portfolio and collaborates on research projects in many different countries. He is often requested to manage field trials and product evaluations and has participated in several research and development projects at Ambic.
Ian is the Chairman of the British Mastitis Conference and is on the Board of Directors of the National Mastitis Council in the USA. He is an active member of the Central Mastitis Review Group and sits on the AHDB Dairy Mastitis Control steering group.
As well as working throughout the UK, Ian has considerable overseas experience providing consultancy in the USA, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, the Middle East and Japan as well as throughout Europe.
Tom Hemling is an internationally recognised expert in livestock animal health with many years of research experience in the field of animal science and food safety. After 25 years spent working in DeLaval’s R&D department, where he built up extensive experience working in the areas of animal health, animal drugs, cleaning & sanitising products and sustainable food production, Tom launched his own consultancy, TCH Animal Health LLP, in 2016 and currently acts as an adviser to Ambic.
Tom has a PhD in Organic Chemistry and has won a number of awards for his research work. He is also named in a number of patents. Alongside his numerous professional memberships, Tom has been an active member of the National Mastitis Council, including serving on the Board of Directors between 1994 and 1999 and chairing the Teat Dip Committee between 2000 and 2006.
