Ambic presents udder health research at British Mastitis Conference.

Ambic has published the results of three research projects it has conducted over a five-year period in collaboration with The Dairy Group on different teat sanitisation methods.  The results were presented in a paper and two posters displayed at the recent British Mastitis Conference (www.britishmastitisconference.org.uk)  which was held in Worcester on 7th November 2018.

The paper, which compared the three teat sanitisation methods, was presented by Dr Brian Pocknee of The Dairy Group (www.thedairygroup.co.uk) and provoked some useful discussion, as did two posters, one presenting the results of the research into teat coverage for dipping, the other providing a comparison of the three methods investigated – manual teat spraying using a vacuum operated teat sprayer, manual teat dipping using a dip cup and automated teat spraying on a rotary milking platform using Ambic’s Locate’n’Spray system™.

Ambic Introduces Upgrade to its Dip Cup Range

Ambic is updating its dip cup range with the addition of an innovative new Uptake Tube Adaptor which fits to the bottom of the uptake tube. It ensures that minimal teat dip chemical is left in the bottom of the dip cup bottle and prevents the uptake tube from ‘bottoming out’ when the dip cup is depressed to dispense teat dip chemical.

The Uptake Tube Adaptor is a particularly useful feature when higher added value, high viscosity barrier type teat dips or two part chemical formulations are used where it is important to minimise chemical wastage.

The new Uptake Tube Adaptor is compatible with both uptake tube sizes used in the Ambic range and will be included with all relevant Ambic models from September onwards (excluding ADC/100 StandardDipper™, ADC/130 FoamDipper™ which has foaming insert in the uptake tube and ADC/160 UniDipper™).

The new Uptake Tube Adaptor is available as a spare part in packs of 10 – part number ADC/001.

Addition of Ribs to the PortaSpray Nozzle

The moulding used to produce the standard PortaSpray nozzle (models RA4, RA40, RA2 and RA20 has been modified by the addition of ribs to the main body of the moulding, as shown in the illustration below. The ribs improve the moulding process as well as making the nozzles easier to screw into place on the spray trigger.
