Ambic launches new, improved AIAlert™ Extra Heat Detectors

Ambic is coming to market with a new, improved self-adhesive heat detector with improved sticking power and improved visibility, based on new patented ‘Channel and Chamber’ technology. The unique design of AiAlert™ Extra allows both side panels of the detector to ‘colour up’ after the central pressure sensitive bubble section has been activated by the pressure exerted on the cow by bulling behaviour. The detector has a built-in time delay mechanism which means it requires approximately 3 seconds of mounting activity before it is activated.

In Heat? Yes, but how far?

Subsequent mounts force the dye through channels into the chambered side panels. This gives the farmer increased visibility and an even stronger indication that multiple mounts have taken place.

If the dye has not migrated to the side panels it may be that the cow has only recently come into heat and insemination might be best left to the next milking, however, if the side panels are fully coloured the cow has most likely been bulling for some period of time and insemination may need to take place sooner.

Key features:

  • New, Improved self-adhesive design for superior adhesive strength
  • Simple yet effective application – minimal preparation and no messy glue
  • No pre-heating of patch required in cold conditions
  • Progressive indication of mounting heat activity
  • No experience required to interpret reading
  • Moulds easily over the cow’s backbone
  • Large surface area for better adhesion and improved visibility
  • Time-delay module focuses on true mounting heat to minimise false positives
  • One person application
  • Available in packs of 10 and 40

Ambic Introduces New MultiFoamer Plus™ To Its Foaming Dip Cup Range

In response to customer demand for an improved foaming dip cup with the ability to adjust the foam quality to suit the characteristics of the particular foaming chemical being used, Ambic has developed a new premium version of its MultiFoamerfoaming dip cup which has the following key features:

  • Two woven meshes for primary foam generation
  • New, third stainless steel mesh welded into the body of the dip cup to optimise the foam structure in the final foam formation phase
  • Set of three different screw-in mixer valves to vary the ratio of air to chemical in order to be able to make the foam either wetter or drier, thus varying the amount of chemical applied

Like the original MultiFoamer™, the new MultiFoamer Plus™ is easily dismantled for ease of cleaning between uses and has a protected air intake to minimise particulate contamination.

Customised versions of the new MultiFoamer Plus™ are available to suit individual foaming teat dip chemicals. Consult Ambic for further details.

EasiFoamer update released to the market

Ambic has released an update to the EasiFoamer which includes a number of product improvements and new features designed to improve the overall functionality of the system and to facilitate installation.

  • Firmware revisions include amendments to the settings parameters for Sleep Mode and Run Time
  • The bore of the peristaltic pump tubes has been reduced to reduce the number of pump start/stops during operation to reduce the overall load on the pressure switch
  • A Non-Return Valve with uptake filter has been added to the system to ensure the pump(s) stay primed at all times
  • In-line filters have been added to protect each of the liquid non-return valves in the system from contamination as an additional feature
  • A ‘Quick Start’ Guide will be included with all future systems to highlight common installation errors and to provide additional assistance with the installation process
  • Op Notes have been updated to reflect the above changes

New digital EasiFoamer™ replaces AutoFoamer™

Following the successful completion of final on-farm validation trials Ambic has launched its new digital EasiFoamer™ system to replace its first generation AutoFoamer™ system, which is based on old analogue technology.

Like the AutoFoamer™ the new EasiFoamer™ automates the process of foam generation to provide a constant supply of high quality foam for teat preparation and sanitisation. However, the new EasiFoamer™ system comes with the following additional features and benefits:

  • Easy adjustment of chemical and air flow to achieve optimum foam quality
  • Keypad and digital display for ease of set up, adjustment and performance monitoring
  • Prime facility for easy start-up and easy refreshing of chemical
  • Low level alarm to warn when chemical level is running low
  • Maintenance reminders, such as for peristaltic pump tube changes
  • Monitoring of chemical consumption

Whilst AutoFoamer™ spares are readily available, please note that all future orders received for complete AutoFoamer™ systems will now be processed and supplied as EasiFoamer™ systems.

Many of the components of the EasiFoamer™ system are interchangeable between the old AutoFoamer™ range and the new EasiFoamer™ range. The Ambic Product Guide shows clearly those parts which are unique to either the AutoFoamer™ range or the EasiFoamer™ range as well as those parts which are common to both models.

Ambic Supports Farmers’ Talk on Mastitis

Ambic recently supported Animal Vet Services, (www.avshayle.co.uk) a large animal vet practice in the South West of England, which organised a dairy farmer’s meeting on mastitis and dry cow therapy.

The guest speaker was Andy Biggs BVSc, MRCVS, who is a leading expert on mastitis and has travelled extensively, consulting on the subject in countries as far afield as China and Chile. Fresh from TV and radio interviews with the BBC that day, Andy covered targeted antibiotic treatment for drying off cows before calving, cleanliness in the parlour and application of different treatment regimens for the dairy cow.

Mark Cinderey, Ambic’s International Sales Manager attended the event and spoke to around 40 dairy farmers who attended the event at The Smuggler’s Inn in St Erth.

The event was sponsored by a number of companies active in the dairy industry, including Ambic.
